Atlanta Braves Win Back-To-Back Road Games Vs. Mets
By John Buhler
The Atlanta Braves take two of three from the first place New York Mets, winning 6-3 Wednesday night. This is the first time the Braves have won back-to-back road games away from Philadelphia since July.
Your Atlanta Braves beat the New York Mets again tonight thanks to a three-run opposite field shot off the bat of 1B Freddie Freeman in the top of the ninth. Arodys Vizcaino came in during the bottom of the frame to record his 7th save of the season.

Outside of this being a rare road series victory against a playoff team nonetheless, my favorite part of tonight’s game was that it came in a Bartolo Colon start for the New York Mets. Since joining the club a few years ago, he and Jon Niese have been perpetual thorns in the sides of the Atlanta Braves offense.

Atlanta had nine hits again tonight, with Cameron Maybin leading the Braves’ starters with a pair of singles. The heavy lifting tonight was done by our slick-fielding, slugger first baseman Freddie Freeman who didn’t actually start the ball game. Freeman had a pinch hit double in the top of the seventh in place of Braves SP Williams Perez. Freddie stayed in the game and had the go-ahead three-run homer to give the Atlanta Braves the final score of 6-3.
Perez looked strong tonight going against Colon. Williams went six innings, allowing two earned runs on sevens hits. He also struck out a pair, walking only one. Perez’s ERA on the year is just a tad over 5.00 at 5.04. His last four starts have been great. Though Williams Perez got the no-decision tonight, he kept the team in the ball game until Freeman delivered the knockout punch a few innings later.

Heading into a travel day before the Atlanta Braves take on the Miami Marlins for a weekend series, the club cannot lose more than 100 games this season! Take a brief moment…breathe…and then celebrate. At 62-91 with only 9 games remaining, your 2015 Atlanta Braves will likely not be a 100 loss ball club!
It’s the little things, guys, like not losing 100 times in a calendar that make me proud of this Atlanta Braves team. The starting rotation is getting better and have had a strong September as a group, with the exception of Shelby Miller. Offensively the club put together some runs the last two nights. The bullpen isn’t terrible anymore. Baby steps, folks. With nothing more to play for than pride in the last nine games of 2015, here’s to the Atlanta Braves ending the year on a positive note. Go Braves!
