Atlanta Braves Reeled in by Miami Marlins, 6-2
By John Buhler
The Atlanta Braves had close to nothing on offense tonight versus the Miami Marlins as Atlanta is predictably reeled in by the Miami Marlins, 6-2 Saturday night.
Most of the offense in this game between the Atlanta Braves and the Miami Marlins can in the first three innings, as Atlanta falls to Miami 6-2 on Saturday night. Miami did open up this close game in the bottom of the eighth with four additional runs.

The Fish only needed one swing off the bat of slugger first baseman Justin Bour to win second game of the series. Justin Bour clobbered Braves’ starter Julio Teheran‘s offering deep over the left field was for a two-run blast in the bottom of the first.

Atlanta caught the Marlins at a bad time, as the Fish are playing their best ball of the season. It seems that the team is finally gelling offensively for GM/Manager Dan Jennings. Manny Acta is even in place to take over as the skipper of the club in 2016.
On offense, the Atlanta Braves must have run out of gas after losing 12-11 last night, as the bats went dormant in this one. Atlanta only had five hits tonight. The Atlanta Braves’ first RBI came in the top of the third when Nick Markakis singled in Cameron Maybin with two outs. The second came in the top of the ninth when Maybin singled in Jace Peterson.

For the most part, it was a bit of a pitchers’ duel between the Atlanta Braves RHP Julio Teheran and the Miami Marlins LHP Justin Nicolino. Teheran lasted six innings and Nicolino made it seven before it became a battle of the bullpens.
Miami’s bullpen was the superior of the two tonight, holding down the Atlanta Braves in the final two frames, allowing that lone ninth inning run. The Braves ‘pen kept it close until imploding in the bottom of the eighth by allowing four runs. Brandon Cunniff allowed 4 earned runs in his 0.2 innings of work, pushing his ERA on the year over 5.00 to 5.03. Danny Burawa had to come in and put out Cunniff’s fire in the bottom of the eighth, recording the final two outs.
Atlanta didn’t strike out hardly at all in this one, with only Adonis Garcia and later Ryan Lavarnway going down on strikes tonight. The Atlanta Braves didn’t strike out much either last night. It seems that the Fish are pitching to contact with Atlanta. It worked out well tonight, but nearly cost the club yesterday. Atlanta needs to win tomorrow’s game to avoid a sweep in their final road series of 2015.
