The Georgia Bulldogs turn it up in the second half and defeat the Southern Jaguars, 48-6. Georgia moves to 4-0 before taking on the Alabama Crimson Tide at home next week.

Though Georgia didn’t hang half a hundred on the Southern Jaguars Saturday afternoon, UGA improves to 4-0 on the year heading into a must-see game with the Alabama Crimson Tide Between the Hedges next week.

Georgia needed halftime to get fired up in this one on the ground. Nick Chubb‘s streak of consecutive 100 yard rushing performances extended today with a 131 yard performance on 15 carries. Chubb had three touchdowns this afternoon, two on the ground including a 49-yard run, and one on a screen pass from QB Greyson Lambert for 24 yards.

Sony Michel also shined in the Georgia Bulldogs backfield, rushing for 75 yards and 2 touchdowns. Michel had a long of 58 and both he and Nick Chubb have seven all-purpose touchdowns apiece this season for UGA.

Greyson Lambert continues to impress with his accuracy as a passer, completing 9-10 attempts for 146 yards and two touchdowns. He has thrown two incompletions in as many games for the Georgia Bulldogs. Brice Ramsey looked strong in extended play today, completing 11 of 14 passes for 125 yards. He did let a few balls sail that could have been interceptions and that’s probably why Lambert is the starter. You don’t get that with Greyson Lambert in the pocket.

Malcolm Mitchell had a fantastic game at wide receiver with five receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown strike from Greyson Lambert. He’s playing exceptionally in his RS Senior season, knowing that he’s finally healthy for the Georgia Bulldogs.

  • Though UGA held Southern to 6 points and 184 yards of total offense, there were a few drives in the first half that Georgia did handle the shovel pass well or defend the read option. At one point, Southern completed four straight third down conversions. While the pass defense looks impressive (79 yards allowed), opponents may look to pound the rock against UGA going forward, as Southern had over 100 yards on the ground this afternoon (105).

Georgia improves to 4-0 with a chance to move up a spot potentially in the AP Top 25, though unlikely, before Alabama comes to town next week. Many are expecting that College GameDay will be coming to the Classic City, but it depends on if Alabama can knock off the ULM Warhawks later this afternoon at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

It seems that outside of OLB Davin Bellamy who missed today’s game that UGA came out of their contest with the Southern Jaguars unscathed. Nick Chubb’s streak continues and Greyson Lambert, Sony Michel, and Malcolm Mitchell continue to impress. Most importantly UGA moves to 4-0 on the year. Go Dawgs!
