POOR SPECIAL TEAMS PLAY

On Saturday, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets special teams were simply atrocious. Last week, kicker Harrison Butker missed 2 important field goals that could have given Tech a tie going into half-time, but instead set the stage for Notre Dame to increase their lead even more.

This week, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets gave up 2 long returns to the Duke Blue Devils: one for 69 yards that set up a Duke touchdown, and then a 100 yard return for a touchdown from DeVon Edwards. These returns killed any semblance of momentum that the Jackets had, and prevented them from coming back in the game.

There was another miscue on special teams on Saturday, as a bad snap to punter Ryan Rodwell allowed Duke to have good field position that resulted in a touchdown for the Blue Devils. Three of Duke’s touchdowns were from mistakes that should have never been made on special teams.
