HEAD COACH PAUL JOHNSON

Ok, so once again this is not a player, but because of the importance of this week’s game against North Carolina, it is important to focus on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets’ Head Coach, Paul Johnson. The last two games against Notre Dame and Duke evidenced huge flaws in the makeup of the Ramblin’ Wreck, and the triple option’s ability to adapt to prepared defense.

The old addage has always been that you know the triple option is coming, but you just can’t stop it. Well, Duke and Notre Dame have done a great job in mitigating the effectiveness of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets offense. Perhaps it’s time for Paul Johnson to realize that opponents have figured out how to defend against the triple option, and in turn must adapt in order to regain offensive efficacy.

Paul Johnson is a stubborn coach, and has remained adament for years in his defense of the triple option. It has worked for Georgia Tech for years, but if the Jackets lose this game after such high expectations going into the season, one has to believe that Tech’s Head Coach and his offensive scheme will come under even more scrutiny.

What will Paul Johnson do this week in regard to personnel? Will he mix up the playcalling? Or will the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets offense remain static. It will be very intriguing to see what the Head Coach does on Saturday to help his team snap their two game losing streak.
