Entering Week 5, we knew that while a loss to Alabama would sting, Georgia would still control its own destiny in the SEC. Georgia hasn’t lost a tiebreaker to any team in the East yet. So if UGA can beat Tennessee, Missouri, Florida, and Kentucky, they’d be in great shape to potentially play in Atlanta for an SEC Championship.
Though UGA won’t enter GA-FLA as the favorite anymore, they will still likely be the team to beat in their other six games left on their plate. Should Georgia beat Florida, they would own the tiebreaker over the Gators. The same principle applies to every remaining East team on their slate.
Had Georgia been in the West, they would not have this luxury, as the Dawgs would need Alabama to lose another game this season. Hopefully the Georgia Bulldogs got all of their bad football out of the way and can take care of business going forward.
