The Kentucky Wildcats survived in overtime beating the Eastern Kentucky Colonels at home in Week 5, 34-27. Go Big Blue Nation! That being said, I like UK’s chances to go 8-4, possibly 9-3. The only games on their slate that I see as likely losses are @Mississippi State and @Georgia.

Should QB Patrick Towles play soundly through the SEC part of the schedule, UK could go 5-3 in SEC play and finish in the AP Top 25. I love the program that HC Mark Stoops is building in Lexington. With the SEC East in a bit of a paradigm shift, why can’t Big Blue Nation elevate itself to a perennial SEC East contender under Stoops? At this point, there is no way UK doesn’t make a bowl game. Kentucky has a bye before hosting Auburn in Week 7.

More from UGA Football

The Georgia Bulldogs may not make the College Football Playoff in 2015. That reality has set in after the devastating home loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 5. Hopefully that was the annual Mark Richt Letdown Game and we can move on and play some sound football in the final seven regular season games of 2015.

UGA needs to win in Knoxville on Saturday to stay alive in the Playoff picture. UT needs to win to keep Butch Jones in Knoxville. This rivalry game will air on CBS at 3:30 PM ET. Funny how both teams lose and will air on the CBS SEC Game of the Week. It looks like UGA will be on three such games this fall.

Unless Neyland Stadium chooses to ruin careers with its patchy turf, I like the Dawgs to exercise their dominance over the Volunteers, making it six in a row over Rocky Top. The Georgia Bulldogs still control their own destiny in the SEC East, SEC, and the Playoff Picture, but they’re not the Top Dawgs in the East entering Week 6. Have to show up on Saturday, absolutely have to.
