Atlanta Falcons: NFC Power Rankings, Week 5
By John Buhler
The Atlanta Falcons are riding high after an improbable 4-0 start. The Dirty Birds will host the 2-2 Washington Redskins at the Georgia Dome on Sunday in Week 5.
There are a handful of solid teams in the NFC, but man, are there some bad teams in this conference. Deciding the upper levels of the NFC wasn’t all that difficult, but the bottom half was like picking what type of poison you wish to consume.

In all honesty, the AFC doesn’t look especially spectacular either. Who on Earth is going to win the AFC South this season? We do know a few things about the NFL in the first quarter of the season: There are six undefeated teams (Atlanta, Carolina, Cincinnati, Denver, Green Bay, and New England) and one team that has yet to win a game (Detroit).
The top-tier of the league looks stronger than normal, the bottom looks uninspiring. Where I’m at a loss through the first quarter of the 2015 NFL Season is how lukewarm the middle feels. The difference between 11th and 20th in the NFL is rather underwhelming.
Somebody in the mediocre middle will emerge to potentially challenge the upper level in the NFL at some point. For now, let’s take a glance at how the NFC shakes out in this week’s NFC Power Rankings.
