The normally strong special teams unit of the Atlanta Falcons did not look spectacular in Week 5′ 25-19 win over the Washington Redskins. Much of that had to do with K Matt Bryant missing two field goals, hitting both uprights on consecutive kickoffs.

KR Devin Hester remains on IR and Eric Weems doesn’t have the explosiveness to electrify the return game. So where do the Atlanta Falcons look to set the tone in the important third phase of the football game? I think it starts with P Matt Bosher giving the New Orleans Saints the worst field position possible, never starting closer to the Atlanta Falcons’ end zone than 80 yards away.

I want every kickoff of Bosher’s to end up as a touchback. Should the Falcons have to punt, I want Drew Brees to have to orchestrate 80+ yard drives every time to get in the end zone. While I think Brees can still design long drives, I don’t believe that the Saints have the weapons on offense to do it as prolifically as Brees once had.

This will be a battle between two dome teams. With the weather being a non-factor in this game, look for special teams to play an important role in this game. While Matt Bryant looks to prove that last week was just a bad game for the normally automatic kicker, look for Matt Bosher to pick up the slack and routinely put the Saints’ offense in bad field position.
