If you’re more into the defensive faction of football, then this game was clearly for you as scoring in this game occurred few and far between with the Georgia Bulldogs winning a closely fought game 9-6.

In the first series on the very first play of the game for the Georgia Bulldogs, Greyson Lambert threw an interception that got returned to the Georgia 1 yard line. From there they were able to put together a solid goal line stand that resulted in a mere 3 points for the Missouri Tigers. The offense for Georgia was quite lacking as Greyson Lambert made several bad throws, while the run game was not able to get much going.

The Georgia Bulldogs did however go for a short 4th down play at mid-field and were able to get the first down. But on the next set of downs, they got held to a 29 yard field goal by Marshall Morgan. The Dawgs would eventually allow another field goal for the Tigers at the end of the second half. They would go into the half leading 6-3. They certainly battled for the points, and while this game should have been a lot worse for Georgia, their defense stepped up and were able to get some great stops.

Going into the half, what concerns most fans is why Greyson Lambert is still being allowed to take the reigns of the offense. It’s very clear that next year will be a battle between Brice Ramsey and Jacob Eason. At this point, you almost want to see more of Brice Ramsey because he will at the very least be your backup for next year. It’s clear that Greyson was a transfer “project” that just hasn’t worked out besides one career game against a South Carolina team that was clearly facing problems other that Steve Spurrier leaving. If he is to remain as the Georgia Bulldogs QB, then his decision-making is going to have to drastically change, and fast.

The third quarter was a lot of the same back and forth between the Georgia Bulldogs and Mizzou, and Georgia’s defense and special teams were the deciding factor in what kept them in this game. Late in the third quarter, the Bulldogs mustered a drive that saw them get down to within 10 yards from a touchdown thanks to some stellar downhill running from Brendan Douglas. It was when they abandoned his services after two straight first downs he gained that they stalled and Greyson threw what was at first ruled an interception.

It wouldn’t be until midway through the 4th quarter that UGA was finally able to amass a drive worthy of producing points, and then they pulled a kick wide of the goal to keep the game tied 6-6. Georgia maintained a firm grasp on the time of possession, but still were able to win the game due in large part to Marshall Morgans leg, as the Georgia Bulldogs would finally take the lead at 9-6 with 1:44 left in the game.

This was a very forgettable game for the Georgia Bulldogs, and not one that they needed with their next contest coming against Florida in Jacksonville. Coming away from this game, its hard to have confidence in them going forward. However the theme of this year in the SEC is that no team is as dominant as what they seem. We can only hope that they are able to look at this game and learn from their mistakes going forward. A win is sweet, but the fact of the matter was that this was a very ugly game for both teams.
