Florida suffered their first loss of the Jim McElwain Era, 35-28, down in Death Valley to the Bayou Bengals. Even if the Gators could have started their suspended QB in Will Grier, I’m not sure Florida would have won against LSU any way.
The Gators will have ample time to prepare for another major rival in the Georgia Bulldogs as they too will be on their bye. Florida is the #13 team in the country and still control the SEC East. However, a loss to UGA means that the Gators would lose the tiebreaker to the Dawgs in the SEC East. Florida has not win the East since 2009.
Florida will play the Georgia Bulldogs in neutral-site Jacksonville on Halloween. That game will be the CBS SEC Game of the Week. Kickoff is a 3:30 PM ET with Verne and Gary.
