Atlanta Falcons: 5 Players to Watch at Titans
By John Buhler
This game will mean a ton for second-year LT Jake Matthews. Nissan Stadium is a place where Jake’s father, Bruce Matthews, cultivated a Hall of Fame career as one of the best offensive linemen to ever play football.
Though Jake grew up in Texas, as his dad played with the Houston Oilers before the team relocated to Nashville, this is a sort of homecoming for the Falcons’ franchise LT. Having to look up at the Ring of Honor and see your father’s name and number should motivate Jake to have one of his best games as a professional.

In his second season in the NFL, Jake Matthews is rapidly becoming a Pro Bowl caliber Left Tackle for the Atlanta Falcons. He’s becoming a very well-rounded player, solid in both run blocking and pass protection. Matthews along with LG Andy Levitre will decimate the Titans on the left side of the offensive line.
Look for Devonta Freeman and the RB corps to rush for over 125 yards on the ground, with a great deal of these designed runs going to the left side. Let’s not forget that C Mike Person will likely be back as well. Matthews’ and Levitre’s homecomings, along with Person’s return to the starting lineup should give the Atlanta Falcons a massive advantage on the line of scrimmage offensively.
