October has not been a kind month to the Georgia Bulldogs. The once #8 team in the nation crumbled at home in the pouring rain to the Alabama Crimson Tide. I’m not sure if that’s the annual UGA letdown game since it was against Alabama, but at least Nick Chubb broke Herschel Walker’s consecutive 100 yard rushing performances record.

Too bad that can to a heartbreaking end on the first play from scrimmage in Knoxville. Chubb tore multiple ligaments in his knee and is out indefinitely. I’d rather see the Dawgs play on concrete than on that clumpy turf in Knoxville ever again. Fix your field, Tennessee. Naturally Georgia lost that game, too.

Down 0-2 for the month of October, it came down to a field goal kicking match during Homecoming against the worst offense in the SEC, possibly the Power 5 in the Missouri Tigers, beating Mizzou 9-6. A win is a win, but not scoring a touchdown at home against Mizzou speaks volumes about where the UGA offense is at heading into Georgia Florida.

Georgia is a 2.5 point underdog against the #11 Florida Gators and rightfully so. Florida’s tenacious defense and our inert offense could yield a recipe for disaster for Dawg Nation. Then again, this is a major rivalry game and records do not matter.

Last year, UGA was the overwhelming favorite to beat Florida. Obviously that didn’t happen. Can the Georgia Bulldogs return the favor by spoiling Florida’s surprisingly strong season? I hope so, as that would mean the Dawgs would officially be back in control of the SEC East. All they would have to do to play in Atlanta is beat Kentucky and then Auburn after a hypothetical Florida victory.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here because this is Georgia we’re talking about. However, there’s nothing like beating the Florida Gators down in Jacksonville. So here’s to that.

The Georgia Bulldogs will meet the Florida Gators down in Jacksonville for the CBS SEC Game of the Week. Kickoff is at 3:30 PM ET. Go Dawgs! Beat Florida!
