“So you’re telling me there’s a chance?” Yes. In all likelihood, the Georgia Bulldogs are making a change at quarterback after going through their bye week. With all three scholarship QBs getting equal reps with the first team, it seems that the re-opened QB competition in Athens resolved in Junior Faton Bauta getting his opportunity to lead the Dawgs.

Bauta has played under center for Georgia in the past, mostly as a dual-threat passer last year in goal line situations for the Georgia Bulldogs. Faton is a favorite of both the UGA staff and his teammates. HC Mark Richt says nobody he has ever coached works harder than Faton Bauta. Rumors began circulating late last night about Bauta replacing Greyson Lambert at QB. Are they true?

More from UGA Football

It seems obvious that Lambert has been ineffective at quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs since the team got crushed at home in the rain against the Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 5. The passer that set a completion record against South Carolina isn’t the same player under center. Though Lambert isn’t prone to turning the ball over like fellow UGA QB Brice Ramsey, Greyson isn’t helping the offense move the chains.

UGA needs a spark on offense if they want to salvage their season. With RB Nick Chubb going down in Knoxville, the Georgia Bulldogs needed to do one of two things on offense to stay effective without their best player: 1. Go spread. 2. Use a dual-threat passer. Since Lambert and his receiving corps were too inconsistent to go spread, let’s see what Faton Bauta can do at quarterback for the Dawgs.
