LAMAR PATTERSON IS A PART OF BUD’S 10-MAN ROTATION

The Atlanta Hawks paid a heavy price in acquiring Tim Hardaway from the New York Knicks on Draft Night, forfeiting a first round pick in this year’s draft in favor of the upside of a third-year player. Hardaway has yet to play in a regular season game, leading to speculation that something may be amiss inside the Atlanta Hawks’ locker room.

With the notable absence of Tim Hardaway Jr. on the court, 2014 second round pick Lamar Patterson has emerged as one of the primary reserves, and has appeared to have won a regular spot in Mike Budenholzer’s rotation. Lamar Patterson was the final player added to the Atlanta Hawks roster after the preseason, and was thought to be an unlikely candidate to receive any playing time this season.

So far, Patterson’s play has surprised many, myself included. Though he is not flashy in any way, he plays a fundamentally sound game on offense and defense. He possesses an adequate three-point shot, and has demonstrated the ability to be an effective defender and passer. Only time will tell if Patterson sticks in the rotation, but for the time being, it looks as if he will remain as a part of the rotation.
