The Defense is Still Good, So Let’s Talk About It
The Georgia Bulldogs defense looked fantastic against a halfway decent Kentucky Wildcats offense. UGA held the ‘Cats to 180 yards of total offense. Dominick Sanders picked off Patrick Towles twice. Georgia held Kentucky to only 8 first downs all game.
At every level, the defense played an outstanding game for DC Jeremy Pruitt. Outside of their three loses, the UGA defense has been a bright spot for this team, especially in red zone defense, often forcing the opponent to kick field goals. Since we’re talking about college kickers, chip shots aren’t guarantees.

Patrick Towles had an awful day at quarterback for the Wildcats. He went 8 for 21 for 96 yards passing and 2 Dominick Sanders’ picks. His QBR was an atrocious 4.4. HC Mark Stoops opted to go with backup QB Drew Barker in the fourth quarter. Barker went 1 for 2 on a 5-yard completion.
Holding RB Jojo Kemp to only 48 yards on the ground on 12 carries is mighty impressive. Kemp is one of those backs that can go hurry-up on every play and beat you into the turf if your defense is adequately prepare. Whatever the game plan was in shutting down the Kentucky offense, Jeremy Pruitt and his defensive staff did an outstanding job on Saturday.
Georgia will play three more run-based offenses the rest of the way in Auburn, Georgia Southern, and Georgia Tech, so get ready for some stacking of the box, Dawg Nation.
