Georgia Bulldogs Face Auburn Tigers at Jordan-Hare
By John Buhler
The Georgia Bulldogs will take on major rival Auburn down on The Plains at Jordan-Hare Stadium in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry. It’s all tied up.
The Georgia Bulldogs look to take back control of the lead in this year’s meeting with the Auburn Tigers. The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry is all tied up at 55-55-8 entering the 119th installment of this historic SEC matchup.
Georgia has won 7 of the last 9 games versus Auburn, but the two losses to the Tigers at Jordan-Hare in 2010 and 2013 were especially painful. 2010 was Cam Newton‘s Heisman Trophy winning National Championship season. 2013 was one of the most painful losses I’ve ever endured.

The return to Jordan-Hare for the Georgia Bulldogs is the main point of emphasis between these two non-contending teams. Can UGA put behind them 2013’s ghost and keep the Tigers from getting to bowl eligibility this afternoon. In a few short hours, we will find out.

For Georgia, it’s all about stopping the run and not turning the football over on offense. Auburn loves to run the football with RB Peyton Barber. Their RS Freshman QB Sean White is surprisingly nimble as well. HC Gus Malzahn and OC Rhett Lashlee love to go fast more than Ricky Bobby. Hopefully UGA DC Jeremy Pruitt has put together a sound game plan to force Auburn into 2nd/3rd and long situations.
On the offensive side of the ball, Georgia should benefit from a work-in-progress defense of DC Will Muschamp. The Georgia Bulldogs ran many plays out of the Wild Dawg formation and that seems like a good solution against Auburn who has many issues on defense in 2015.
Even with limited quarterbacking done by either Greyson Lambert or Brice Ramsey, the Dawgs looked their best on offense against Kentucky in over a month. Like they scored touchdowns and stuff, which is nice because that didn’t happen for nearly a month.
UGA has many play makers on offense, so putting the ball in players’ hands immediately like WR Terry Godwin, WR Isaiah McKenzie, and even RB Keith Marshall doesn’t seem ludicrous at this point. While a direct snap to RB Sony Michel would seem logical, he is still dealing with a broken wrist and will probably have to carry the rock in his left hand exclusively again this afternoon.

This is an evenly matched game and since it’s a rivalry game, it could go either way. I think that the Georgia Bulldogs’ defense is the difference maker in this one.
Prediction: Georgia Bulldogs 28, Auburn Tigers 20.
The game will air on CBS at Noon today. Go Dawgs!
