Georgia Bulldogs Strong in 2nd Half, Beat Auburn 20-13
By John Buhler
The Georgia Bulldogs move to 7-3 (5-3) on the year after beating Auburn down on The Plains, 20-13 Saturday Afternoon. It was a great 2nd half effort by UGA.
The Georgia Bulldogs get their 7th win of the season by beating the Auburn Tigers, 20-13 in Jordan-Hare Stadium Saturday afternoon. It was a tale of two halves, as UGA looked a bit sloppy in the first, trailing Auburn 10-3 at halftime.
However in the second half, Georgia outscored Auburn 17-3 to beat their inter-divisional nemesis in their house for the first time since 2012. The play that everyone will remember is KR Isaiah McKenzie’s 53 yard punt return for a touchdown. That return put the Georgia Bulldogs up 17-10 and the Dawgs seized all momentum from that point forward.

McKenzie did a little bit of everything in this game. He had 94 all-purpose yards and 2 touchdowns on the day. His other touchdown came early in the second half on a 4 yard scamper to tie it up at 10 apiece. I-Mac is a difference maker when he’s healthy. Today the Human Joystick prevailed.

It was very much a defensive minded game with neither team having a ton of offense. UGA only managed 243 yards of offense (97 passing, 146 rushing). Auburn was slightly better with 275 yards (62 passing, 213 rushing). Both kickers Marshall Morgan and Daniel Carlson had strong days with a pair of field goals apiece.
The big difference in this game was the turnover differential, with the Georgia Bulldogs forcing 3 Auburn Tigers’ turnovers. UGA didn’t turn the ball over and played a fairly clean game Saturday, not including that one penalty-riddled drive. 4th and 31…
For Georgia, they have two more non-conference games left on their 2015 Regular Season slate. The Dawgs will host the Georgia Southern Eagles next week Between the Hedges, before their date with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate down at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Georgia Tech lost their seventh game of the season at home on Thursday night to Virginia Tech and are not bowl eligible.
Auburn needs to win one of their next two games versus Idaho and arch rival Alabama to get to that very important sixth win of the season. A lot is riding on that Idaho game for the Tigers, as they are probably not beating Alabama at home this year.

It’s possible that UGA can get to 10 wins in 2015. Wins over Southern, Tech, and in the bowl game and there you have it. Great win for the Dawgs today. The defense did their job. The special teams were great. The offense didn’t cost us the game. Go Dawgs!
