Atlanta Falcons: 5 Players to Watch vs. Colts
By John Buhler
Jacob Tamme in recent weeks has become Matt Ryan‘s second favorite target behind WR Julio Jones. Tamme, a career second-string tight end, is thriving in his new role with the Atlanta Falcons. He has 38 receptions for 430 yards and a touchdown.
He’s doing a fantastic job of possession receiving in the middle of the field. I’m not saying he’s Tony Gonzalez, but the way Tamme receives the football between the hash marks gives the Atlanta Falcons’ offense that sort of threat from the tight end we haven’t seen since Gonzalez retired after the 2013 NFL Season.
This is also a significant game for Jacob Tamme, as he spent his first four years with the Indianapolis. The former 4th round pick by the Colts in 2008 had 92 catches for 855 yards and 5 touchdowns from 2008 to 2011.
Since I feel that the offense will bounce back on Sunday, I think Tamme plays a part in the team’s success aerially. Look for Tamme to have 5 catches for 65 yards and maybe a reception in the red zone. If he’s feeling it early, QB Matt Ryan should look his way in the end zone because Tamme will reel in a touchdown reception.
