If UGA isn’t going to have a rematch with the Louisville Cardinals, it would stand as a real treat for the Georgia Bulldogs to play HC Mark Richt’s alma mater in the Miami Hurricanes. While UGA has met The U 12 times before, their last head-to-head meeting was in 1966.
Given that the ACC and the SEC play each other often in bowl games and in the non-conference, why hasn’t UGA played The U since the Hurricanes joined the ACC well over a decade ago? Since Miami has a respectable 8-4 (5-3) record, this matchup could very well happen.
Even after firing former HC Al Golden after getting eviscerated at home by Clemson, the Hurricanes managed to guide themselves to a decent bowl game. Not bad for a program that was one of the biggest jokes in the Power 5 for a few weeks this season.
It seems only fitting that Mark Richt would get at least one opportunity to coach against his alma mater. A 2015 date with The U in Charlotte would make for an interesting bowl game for the Dawgs. UGA could get to 10 wins versus Miami as a slight favorite at a neutral site.
