The Georgia Bulldogs have had a strong, passion-filled 112-year history as a football program. Georgia has won 760 times on Fall Saturdays and often times, it is because of tremendous play from the starting quarterback.
While people often associate the Dawgs that play Between the Hedges with a great ground and pound game, it has been the play of the quarterbacks, particularly in the last 25 years that have given the Georgia Bulldogs bite on offense.
As the NFL becomes more quarterback-driven by the year, the NCAA is quick to follow suit. Under former head coach Mark Richt, Georgia ran one of the more consistent pro-style offenses in the NCAA. Quarterbacks from Dallas, Charlotte, and Tampa all went out-of-state to play in Richt’s pro-style offense. Some had marginal success, while others make this Top 10 list.
Even before the Mark Richt Era in Athens, UGA has at times had great quarterback play. Passers from the Wally Butts Era to the Jim Donnan Era also make this list. While the Georgia Bulldogs may never shed, or want to for that matter, their reputation for producing top-flight running back talent, UGA signal callers have proven over the years that the can both thrive in the SEC and hang at the professional level.
Without further ado, here are the Top 10 quarterbacks to have ever worn the Red and Black and play Between the Hedges for the Georgia Bulldogs. There are surely some surprises in this compilation.
