Atlanta Falcons: All-Time Team
By John Buhler
Quarterback: Matt Ryan (2008-Present)
Fans may not like Matt Ryan all that much in 2015, but in his first seven years in the league, the No. 3 overall pick of the 2008 NFL Draft out of Boston College has taken the Atlanta Falcons to four of its 12 playoff berths, made three Pro Bowls, and leads the franchise in most passing categories.
Ryan through Week 13 of the 2015 NFL regular season has thrown for more yards (31,467) and touchdowns (198) than any quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons to date. Matt Ryan has the best career completion percentage (64.3%) and quarterback rating (90.8) of any full-time starter in franchise history.
Under center entering Week 14, Matt Ryan has a career record of 72-50, 17 more wins that Ring of Honor quarterback Steve Bartkowski. While many would say that Bartkowski was the better passer during his time, that Michael Vick was the most explosive player of his time, or that even Chris Chandler led the Dirty Birds to Super Bowl XXXIII, Matt Ryan’s name is atop most of the Atlanta Falcons’ all-time passing statistics.
On this all-time starting 22, I would want a passer that has over his career shown that he can throw an accurate football and win games with his arm. Though he and the Atlanta Falcons are struggling in 2015, Matt Ryan is the man I would want under center in for the All-Time Atlanta Falcons team.
