Atlanta Falcons: All-Time Team
By John Buhler
Defensive Tackle: Jonathan Babineaux (2005-Present)
Defensive Tackle is another position that it is not so obvious for the Atlanta Falcons, but Jonathan Babineaux’s longevity and versatility give him an edge to play defensive tackle in this hybrid defensive scheme.
He wouldn’t play the nose, but would thrive at the 3-technique with John Abraham up on the line at the LEO, overloading the blind side with him and Claude Humphrey. Stopping the run would still not be an issue with strong inside linebackers like Tommy Nobis, Jessie Tuggle, and Keith Brooking stacking the box.
Babineaux was a second round pick out of the University of Iowa in 2005 and has been with the Atlanta Falcons ever since. He has totaled 25.5 career sacks, 273 career tackles, and 91 career assists playing anywhere and everywhere on the Atlanta Falcons’ defensive line the last 11 years.
Jonathan Babineaux has played in 165 games with the Atlanta Falcons, starting in 127 of them. He would give the All-Time Team the stability it would need on the interior and the flexibility to get creative in both pass rush and run stopping.
