Atlanta Falcons: All-Time Team
By John Buhler
Tight End: Tony Gonzalez (2009-13)
The Atlanta Falcons had the rare opportunity of getting the best player at his position all-time to come play his last five NFL seasons with tight end Tony Gonzalez. Tony Gonzalez made four of his 14 career Pro Bowls with the Atlanta Falcons (2010-13). He made an All-Pro with the Atlanta Falcons in 2012, his sixth of his illustrious career.
Gonzalez played on three playoff teams in Atlanta and only the 2013 Atlanta Falcons finished below .500 when he was on the roster. He had 409 of his 1,325 career receptions, 4,187 of his 15,127 career receiving yards, and 35 of his 111 career touchdown catches while playing for the Atlanta Falcons.
In a five-year span with Atlanta, he proved that he was the most consistent and most dynamic tight end all time before hanging up the spikes after the 2013 NFL season to do television on CBS.
People thought that his career was over when he left Kansas City after the 2008 NFL season at the age of 32. Tony Gonzalez only rattled off five more outstanding years of his first ballot Hall of Fame career. As soon as he becomes eligible, the Atlanta Falcons will gain another member to call their own in Canton with the greatest tight end of all-time in Tony Gonzalez.
