Left Guard: Justin Blalock (2007-14)

Left guard is not one of the more glamorous positions on the gridiron, but for eight years Justin Blalock was a steady as they come. Blalock along with long-time center Todd McClure formed a dynamic duo of great protectors on the interior during the heyday of the Mike Smith era in Atlanta (2008-12).

While Atlanta never had one of the more formidable offensive lines during his playing days, Blalock was the type of player a coach could put at a spot and rarely worried about. For eight years, Justin Blalock started 125 games at left guard for the Atlanta Falcons.

When it comes to evaluating offensive line talent, consistency and longevity are two crucial parts. Blalock had both going for him for a long time before retiring before the 2015 NFL season after being cut by the new coaching staff this past February.

Justin Blalock never made a Pro Bowl, but was a great, consistent player at left guard for the Atlanta Falcons during their best years as a franchise. He did a solid job at a thankless position, but I think he would do very well on the left side of the offensive line next to Mike Kenn on the Atlanta Falcons All-Time Team at left guard.
