Atlanta Falcons right guard Chris Chester partnered up with Las Vegas food truck Fukuburger to cater to the entire team and staff after Week 17’s home game.

Two years while playing for the Washington Redskins, guard Chris Chester partnered up with friend and Las Vegas food truck owner Colin Fukunaga of Fukuburger to feed the entire Washington team when they played the Oakland Raiders at O.co Coliseum in Week 4 of the 2013 NFL season. The event was a big hit for all involved and even John Madden came by to enjoy the delicious Asian-inspired burgers.

For the 2015 NFL season finale, Chris Chester now with the Atlanta Falcons decided to use Fukuburger again to cater to his entire team and staff after their Week 17 showdown with the rival New Orleans Saints.

While the logistics may seem a little daunting for a Las Vegas-based food truck, D.C. native Fukunaga was more than willing to help out his friend in putting on this event for Chester and his teammates at the Georgia Dome.

More from ATL All Day

Chester met Fukunaga through a mutual friend and a high school teammate of Chester’s in Tustin, California, as Chester spent his first nine NFL seasons in the D.C. area as a member of the Baltimore Ravens (2006-10) and the Washington Redskins (2011-14). Chester became a big fan of Fukunaga’s hamburgers and has now twice had Fukuburger catered to his NFL: the Washington Redskins in 2013 and the Atlanta Falcons in 2015.

Fukuburger even set up shop on Saturday at the Atlanta Food Truck Park, selling their Asian-inspired burgers to the Atlanta public from noon until 4:00 PM ET.

Fukunaga decided to bring three of his signature burgers to Atlanta: No. 1: The Fuku Burger (all-beef patty, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, wasabi mayo, Fuku sauce), No. 2: The Tomago Burger, also my favorite (all-beef patty, furikake, teriyaki and wasabi mayo, crispy onion strings, fried egg), No. 3: The Buta Burger (all-beef patty, applewood smoked bacon, American cheese, pickled red onions and red ginger, Japanese barbecue sauce, wasabi mayo).

Colin Fukunaga spoke highly of the southern hospitality with all the people involved to help put on the event. He said, “The southern hospitality really carries into Atlanta. We came here, everyone was really helpful. We went out of our way to ask a lot of questions and Atlanta was really good about helping us out. It was seamless.”

He later added, “We’re doing what we do in Vegas, in Atlanta two days later. That’s amazing.” Fukunaga was truly amazed at how accommodating Atlanta was to he and his business this weekend, whether it was the Atlanta Food Truck Park, to the asian marketplace, to the Georgia Dome, to Chris Chester and the Atlanta Falcons.

Chris Chester has been a big supporter of Fukuburger for a long time and is glad to bring all that the Las Vegas food truck has to offer to his new teammates in Atlanta. When asked about how this catering event will be different from the one in 2013, Chester said, “I’m glad that it’s a home game. We were kind of rushed last time we did it because we had to fly back to Washington. One of the best aspects of Fukuburger is the atmosphere is great. A lot of fun, really good food, just kind of hang out and chill.”

When asked if the burgers are as good today as when he has the in Las Vegas, Chester stated, “They get exponentially better every time I have one.” Chester also believes that his fellow offensive lineman right tackle Ryan Schraeder will put away the most Fukuburgers of anybody on the team, with little hesitation, stating “it’s the lean guys that really eat the most on our team. The offensive line and really the whole team is excited for the event after the game.”
