The Atlanta Hawks are 23-16 in the upper part of the Eastern Conference. Where do the Hawks land in this week’s Eastern Conference Power Rankings?

We are rapidly approaching the halfway point of the 2015-16 NBA season, where most teams are within a few games of playing 41 games. The Atlanta Hawks are 23-16 through their first 39 games of the season and sit in third place in the Eastern Conference, tied with Chicago Bulls. Atlanta holds a 1.0 game lead over the Miami Heat in the Southeast Division.

At this point, no team has really emerged as the presumed challenger of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference, though there are about four or five teams (including the Atlanta Hawks) that could end up playing the Cavs in the 2016 Eastern Conference Finals.

Only three teams (Brooklyn, Milwaukee, and Philadelphia) seem like they are out of the playoff discussion, so 12 teams still have a fighting chance for one of eight Eastern Conference playoff berths. Atlanta should extend its longest active playoff streak in the East to nine straight seasons again in 2016.

While their honestly is not a lot of change in the perception of the Eastern Conference hierarchy this week, here are the Eastern Conference Power Rankings as of January 14th, 2016.
