Braxton Miller wants to play for the Atlanta Falcons?
By John Buhler
Braxton Miller, a former star quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes turned wide receiver, reportedly would love to play for the Atlanta Falcons in 2016.
Braxton Miller is one of the most interesting players at the 2016 Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. The former starting quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes effectively transitioned into what seems like an NFL caliber wideout during his senior season in Columbus.
One of the teams that spoke with Miller on Wednesday was the Atlanta Falcons, according to ESPN’s Vaughn McClure. Atlanta will almost certainly look to upgrade their wide receiver corps in the 2016 NFL Draft, as the passing game dipped a tad in the first year of offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan‘s West Coast offense.
With former defensive passing game coordinator Raheem Morris taking over for the departed long-time wide receivers coach with the Atlanta Falcons in Terry Robiskie, perhaps Morris won’t stand as a the only person in the Falcons wide receivers room that has had to deal with changing positions. Would the Atlanta Falcons consider drafting Braxton Miller to play wide receiver for them in 2016?

When asked about the thought of playing wide receiver alongside Julio Jones with the Atlanta Falcons, Miller said the following, “I would love to come help out Julio in Atlanta. I would love to wear the red and black.”
Millers said that he started feeling like a wide receiver mid-season with the Buckeyes and scouts think that this former dual-threat quarterback has the foot speed and the elusiveness to play wide receiver at the NFL level.
Since the Atlanta Falcons are probably not going to consider going with a wide receiver until probably the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft at the earliest, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that general manager Thomas Dimitroff might find Braxton Miller’s leadership and unique set of skills worthy of a mid-to-late round selection.
Miller is an athlete first, so he will likely have a strong showing at the NFL Scouting Combine and at Ohio State’s Pro Day. However, should he exceed expectations in the Senior Bowl Saturday afternoon, he may cement himself as a converted wide receiver worthy of a mid-round draft pick.
Depending on how he interviews with the Atlanta Falcons or more importantly how and if Shanahan and Morris think that they can feature Braxton Miller in the wide receivers group, Dimitroff and his amped up scouting department might take a chance on Miller in the 2016 NFL Draft.

He wouldn’t stand as the first player to change positions to help his draft stock, nor will Miller be the last, but it’s rare for a two-time conference player of the year in the Big Ten to seem so willing to change positions to pursue his dream of playing in the NFL. Keep an eye on Braxton Miller to see if the Atlanta Falcons’ interest in him is mutual in the coming months.
