The Georgia Bulldogs have 16 commits heading into the final weekend before National Signing Day on Wednesday, February 3rd. Here’s a recruiting update.

2016 National Signing Day is less than a week away. Top recruits in the 2016 high school graduating class will have to sign their respective letters of intention for where they want to play college football by the end of Wednesday, February 3rd.

Entering the final weekend of the 2016 recruiting season, the Georgia Bulldogs have six players already enrolled at the university and 10 more Committed to the G. 24/7 Sports has the Georgia Bulldogs with the No. 8 recruiting class in the country and the No. 5 in the SEC as of Thursday night. Not bad considering that the Dawgs have had to deal with the turmoil surrounding the change of guard from Mark Richt to Kirby Smart as their head coach.

Enrolled in spring classes are five-star quarterback Jacob Eason (Lake Stevens HS, Lake Stevens, WA), five-star tight end Isaac Nauta (IMG Academy, Bradenton, FL), four-star defensive tackle Julian Rochester (McEachern HS, Powder Springs, GA), four-star offensive tackle Ben Cleveland (Stephens Co. HS, Toccoa, GA), four-star wide receiver Riley Ridley (Deerfield Beach HS, Deerfield, FL), and three-star cornerback Chad Clay (Peachtree Ridge HS, Suwanee, GA).

The Georgia Bulldogs have gained two new hard commits to their 2016 recruiting class since January 23’s update in three-star offensive tackle Solomon Kindley (Raines HS, Jacksonville, FL) and two-star punter Marshall Long (South Rowan HS, China Grove, NC). UGA did however lose a commit as well in wide receiver Randrecous Davis, who will probably play for Mark Richt at Miami.

Kindley and Long join eight other hard commits for the 2016 Recruiting Class not currently enrolled in class. Those other eight guys are four-star defensive end Chauncey Manac (Clinch Co. HS, Homerville, GA), four-star wide receiver Charlie Woerner (Rabun Co. HS, Tiger, GA), four-star running back Elijah Holyfield (Woodward Academy, Atlanta, GA), four-star inside linebacker Jaleel Laguins (Oconee Co. HS, Watkinsville, GA), four-star defensive tackle Tyler Clark (Americus Sumter Co. South, Americus, GA), four-star wide receiver Javon Wims (Hinds CC, Raymond, MS), three-star offensive tackle Chris Barnes (Lee Co. HS, Leesburg, GA), and three-star cornerback Tyrique McGhee (Peach Co. HS, Fort Valley, GA).

Here are the five-stars to keep an eye on for the Georgia Bulldogs: No. 1 player in the country defensive tackle Rashan Gary, defensive tackle Derrick Brown, inside linebacker Ben Davis, athlete Mecole Hardman, Jr., wide receiver Demetris Robertson, and outside linebacker Lyndell Wilson.

Gary is likely a longshot to Commit to the G. Brown has been a top priority of Coach Smart, though he has UGA not in his top three. Davis and Wilson’s interest in the Georgia Bulldogs have grown since Smart took over the program. Hardman will probably sign with Georgia as he seems to have a good relationship with Jacob Eason. Robertson may want to play for Stanford if he qualifies academically.

Four-stars to keep an eye on for the Georgia Bulldogs are defensive end Brian Burns, safety Nigel Warrior, offensive tackle E.J. Price and offensive tackle Jauan Williams. 24/7 Sports lists 18 other players as High Choice and 21 as Interested.

UGA will likely get a few more big signings in their 2016 Recruiting Class. It won’t stand as a massive recruiting class for a few reasons, mostly because of the head coaching change, as well as not having a ton of seniors or juniors entering the 2016 NFL Draft. Besides outside linebacker Leonard Floyd, I believe all the juniors on the roster are returning to school for their senior season in 2016.

Expect the Dawgs to have at least a few more commitments before the end of the weekend. With National Signing Day only five days away, Let’s Go Dawgs!
