Entering the final days before Wednesday’s National Signing Day, there is not a more highly coveted recruit in the 2016 recruiting class than Gordo High School’s Ben Davis at inside linebacker. Davis is a five-star linebacker, the No. 10 player nationally, the No. 1 player at his position, and the No. 1 player who played high school football in Alabama.

Davis is a legacy of the Alabama Crimson Tide, but when former Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart came to Athens to become the next head coach of the Georgia Bulldogs, it really opened up Davis’ recruit. As of now, there are three teams in the SEC that could land the No. 1 inside linebacker in the country: the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Auburn Tigers, and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Auburn and Georgia could offer Davis early playing time, but Alabama would give him a better shot of winning a National Championship during his college days. Smart’s decision to come home to coach Georgia has knocked Alabama down a notch with regards to signing Davis and has simultaneously allowed Auburn to emerge as a realistic contender.

Davis is 6’3″, 240 pounds and would look good playing on the inside at any of these three SEC institutions. If he wants playing time, he should commit to Auburn. If he wants to make his family happy, he should commit to Alabama. But if he wants to play for one of the best defensive minds in college football in Kirby Smart, then Ben Davis should Commit to the G.

Prediction: Alabama Crimson Tide
