Nate Stupar. 52. player. 44. . Outside Linebacker. Penn State

One of the Atlanta Falcons’ key players on special teams is about to enter free agency in outside linebacker Nate Stupar. Stupar has spent the last two years playing mostly special teams for the Atlanta Falcons, but did show us that he can hold his own in a rotational role at outside linebacker in Richard Smith’s defense.

Stupar seems to have great vision and seems to strike with authority. His improved play at linebacker in 2015 proves that he is coachable and could get better in 2016 should he get another opportunity to work with defensive coordinator Richard Smith and linebackers coach Jeff Ulbrich, both great teachers of the linebacker position.

While Atlanta will want to upgrade linebacker through free agency and probably the NFL Draft, Stupar would emerge as a high energy guy that won’t command the money that recently cut Justin Durant would have.

Stupar can do any number of things for head coach Dan Quinn’s team. Quinn values versatility with his football players and Nate Stupar can certainly provide the 2016 Atlanta Falcons with that for not as much money as some other free agents would command. Don’t seem surprised if he’s back in Atlanta for another season.
