The Atlanta Braves are gearing up for another exciting season of Major League Baseball. When does Spring Training begin in 2016 for the Atlanta Braves?
The Atlanta Braves organization have begun the process of packing up their moving trucks for yet another exciting installment of Spring Training.
While it is still far too cold to consider playing baseball in the Metro Atlanta region, the club will again hold their Spring Training at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. This is the 19th season that the Atlanta Braves will have their Spring Training in the Orlando region of Central Florida.
With the equipment on its way to Lake Buena Vista, pitchers and catchers are to report a week from today on Friday, February 19th. The battery mates will hold their first practice the next day on Saturday, February 20th.

The position players reporting to Atlanta Braves Spring Training at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex will need to arrive in Lake Buena Vista, Florida on Wednesday, February 24th. The Atlanta Braves’ first full squad practice will begin the next day on Thursday, February 25th.
From there, the Atlanta Braves will have a little over a month to get ready for the 2016 MLB season, playing in the Grapefruit League in Florida against essentially East Coast teams in both the American League and the National League.
The Atlanta Braves first game of Spring Training will be on March 1st when the Braves welcome to Lake Buena Vista the American League East’s Baltimore Orioles. From there, Atlanta Braves will play just about every day in March, except for an off day on March 23rd.
Atlanta will split their spring training roster up in half three times to play two mid-afternoon games at the same time: March 11th at home versus the Philadelphia Phillies and on the road in Jupiter versus the St. Louis Cardinals, March 17th at home versus the Houston Astros and on the road in Viera against the Washington Nationals, and on March 25th at home versus Houston and on the road in Lakeland versus the Detroit Tigers.
The Atlanta Braves will wrap up Spring Training on April 2nd when they play an inter-squad ball game against the Braves Stars. For the final time, the Atlanta Braves will host Opening Day at Turner Field on Monday, April 4th at 4:10 PM ET when their National League East rival Washington Nationals come to town for a two-game series.
