While replacing talents like Leonard Floyd and Jordan Jenkins at outside linebacker would stand as a huge obstacle for most teams in the SEC, the Georgia Bulldogs are fortunate to have two great players ready to turn heads as juniors on the outside. One of which is redshirt junior Davin Bellamy.

Because of Leonard Floyd’s ability to play several positions on the gridiron last year and outside linebackers/STAR coach Kevin Sherrer found creative ways to get his best players on the field, Bellamy was able to crack the outside linebackers rotation for the Dawgs despite being fourth string entering the season.

With his increased repetitions on the gridiron in Sherrer’s pass rushing system, Bellamy proved that he is more than ready to start at outside linebacker for the Georgia Bulldogs in 2016. Expect him to lineup in several different spots in the UGA defense this fall because of his familiarity with working with Coach Sherrer. This is their third season together at Georgia.

What sets Davin Bellamy apart from many of his competitors for the starting outside linebacker job in 2016 is that he is able to read and react, being able to make plays on the ball in both run stuffing and pass rushing situations. Bellamy thrives at making plays in the backfield. While he may not become an every-down outside linebacker like Jordan Jenkins was as an upperclassmen, Bellamy has the skill set that could lead him down that path in his final two years at UGA.
