Atlanta Falcons: NFL Draft Day 3 Selections
The Atlanta Falcons finished the third and final day of the 2016 NFL Draft with the addition of three more players: linebacker De’Vondre Campbell, guard Wes Schweitzer, and wide receiver Devin Fuller.
All three picks were beneficial to the team’s overall needs, two of which especially related to head coach Dan Quinn’s focus on improving the defense.
In the fourth round, with the No. 115 overall pick, the Falcons selected Minnesota linebacker De’Vondre Campbell. At 6-foot-4, 232 pounds, Campbell definitely adds a physical presence. His combine results include a 4.56 second 40-yard dash, vertical jump of 34 inches, and a 7.07 second 3-cone drill.
Due to his size and unique build, Campbell has played numerous different positions in both high school and college. It will be interesting to see how the Falcons utilize his versatility in the long run.
With the No. 195 overall pick in Round 6, the Falcons concluded their offensive guard search with the selection of San Jose State’s Wes Schweitzer. Schweitzer is also a very big (6-feet, 5 inches, 315 lbs.) and resourceful addition to the offense.

Entering the draft as a 5th year senior, he has college experience at both left and right tackle, in which he was a starter at left tackle for two years. He also started all 13 games in his final season, which gave him a consecutive starting steak of 37, and was also named the “Outstanding Offensive Lineman” at the team’s annual award banquet.
The Atlanta Falcons concluded the draft with their Round 7, No. 238 overall pick, UCLA wide receiver Devin Fuller. In his four seasons with UCLA, he totaled 1,322 receiving yards as well as 10 touchdowns, despite both head and ankle injuries in his senior year.
Fuller was a highly ranked returner in the draft, and he brings a lot of speed at wide receiver. Though he wasn’t invited to the NFL Combine, he was able to turn heads another way. Fuller, at 6-foot, 195 lb., clocked a 4.39 second forty-yard dash at UCLA’s pro day.
In addition to Keanu Neal, Deion Jones and Austin Hooper, the Falcon’s Day 3 selections will bring even more speed and agility to both the offense and defense.
