Georgia Bulldogs: Nick Chubb to return early?
In 2015, Georgia Bulldogs running back Nick Chubb sustained a career threatening knee injury and missed the second half of the season. According to Chubb, he will be back in time for the season opener against the North Carolina Tar Heels.
After missing the second half of last season due to a knee injury, there has been a great deal of concern circulating around Georgia running back Nick Chubb and whether or not he would return in time for the Bulldogs’ season opener against North Carolina.
Have no fear, Georgia Bulldogs fans. Nick Chubb recently announced that he will in fact be back for the opening game, and it’s all due to a smooth and ahead of schedule recovery.
According to Ben Kercheval of CBS Sports,
"In a video taken from a previous interview aired by ABC/ESPN, Chubb says his return is going to “be something to see … “I’m gonna be back for the opening game.”"
This announcement may come as a bit of a surprise, considering just over a month ago many sources believed that Chubb could actually miss a few games this season before he is back to 100 percent.

The Georgia Bulldogs, who have an advantageous start to their 2016 schedule, could afford to be without Chubb; but not for long.
Their first three games, being against the North Carolina Tar Heels, Nicholls State Colonels and the Missouri Tigers, are games that Georgia could handle without their star running back .
Georgia could do well early without Chubb especially due to the presence of other quality running backs, including Sony Michel and Tae Crowder, among others. However, if Chubb is healthy in time, he would obviously be the starter.
From there, the schedule only becomes more challenging, making the timing of Chubb’s return even more important.
But even if Chubb returns in time, the question then becomes, can he return to his old ways? There is little doubt that he will be physically capable. Last season, shortly after sustaining the injury, Chubb vowed, “I will be back stronger than ever next year.” Will he be able to mentally rebound from the injury as well?

Luckily, if Chubb’s statement to return early, or at least in time for the season opener on September 3rd, holds true, Georgia Bulldogs fans should have no worries. The return of Nick Chubb is likely to be a tremendous injury comeback to witness, and thus a great season for the Bulldogs.
