The Atlanta Hawks re-signed free agent forward Kris Humphries on a one-year, $4 million deal on Monday evening.
The Atlanta Hawks have agreed to bring forward Kris Humphries on a one-year deal , worth $4 million. The deal was first reported by The Vertical’s Shams Charania on Monday. Humphries has confirmed this via his Twitter page.
Humphries was signed by the Atlanta Hawks in March, after being waved by the Phoenix Suns. He filled the role as a stretch 4 for the Hawks over the last month and half of the season. Last season, with the Hawks he appeared in 21 games while averaging 6.4 points and 3.4 rebounds in 14 MPG.

In the playoffs he saw less playing time, only appearing in 10 of the Hawks postseason games. He has seen his value increase with the expansion of his outside shot. He has been known as a solid backup and guy that consistently crashes the board.
Humphries will return and provide the Atlanta Hawks with some depth in the front court with his rebounding ability. This is a low-cost, with a potential for a high reward.
He does not really fit the prototype that we have seen in the past with Coach Budenholzer, but his ability to space the floor can help with the absence of Al Horford. If Humphries can hit his outside shot more frequently it will make this deal a bargain for the Hawks.

This signing puts the Atlanta Hawks over the 15 player roster limit that has to be set before the end of training camp. Those who have tuned into the Las Vegas Summer League and watched the Hawks, have seen some good play. With the roster now at 17, it will be interesting to see how the things shake out at the end of training camp.
