The Georgia Bulldogs are less than a week away from beginning fall camp. They might be focusing on the upcoming season, but some part of the coaches and players might be focusing on the recruiting trail. One of the biggest pieces in the 2018 class is about to make his decision.

Some people might already be saying, “It’s way too early to be looking at the 2018 class.” Well, when you have a prospect that some people are saying, “could be the best quarterback prospect to come out in the last ten years,” it changes things. The Georgia Bulldogs are very much in the hunt for this special player. Introducing Trevor Lawrence.

Lawrence is a 6’6 196 pound quarterback from Cartersville, GA. He is as the top quarterback in the country, and the number one overall player for 2018, according to 247sports.com. He has also been on the recruiting scene since eighth grade. Last year, he led Cartersville High School to a state title in Class AAAA.

Intangibles

Lawrence has elite size for the quarterback position. It allows him to see over all of the defenders and make the correct throw down the field. Lawrence is also able to scramble out of the pocket, stop, and make the throw. Those are skills that can’t be coached or taught.

More from Georgia Bulldogs

What’s even more scary is that, Lawrence is only coming off of his sophomore season. HE STILL HAS TWO MORE YEARS OF HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL AHEAD OF HIM! Lawrence’s upside is off the charts, and many people see him playing on Sundays. Although, the Georgia Bulldogs want him to play between the hedges on Saturdays.

Recruitment

With his recruitment winding down, Lawrence has visited his top two schools, Clemson and Georgia multiple times during the past couple of months. Jim Chaney and Kirby Smart have made great impressions on him and his family and showed them how they want to utilize Lawrence’s strengths.

More from ATL All Day

The Georgia Bulldogs currently have star quarterback Jacob Eason on campus and also have a commitment from four-star Jake Fromm in the class of 2017, according to 247sports.com. Lawrence knows anywhere he goes, he is going to have competition.

Prediction

As Lawrence prepares to make his decision, the Georgia Bulldogs will continue to recruit Lawrence and make him a priority. If I had to give an edge to one team right now, it would be the Georgia Bulldogs.

Lawrence has built a great relationship with both Jim Chaney and Kirby Smart. If Lawrence commits to UGA, the Georgia Bulldogs will be set at the quarterback position for years to come between the hedges.
