Atlanta Falcons: A Look at Day 2

Day 2 of the 2016 XFINITY Atlanta Falcons Training Camp was a rough one for the offense, but the Falcons did sign a wide receiver on Friday. Here are a few key points to take away from Day 2 of camp.

From a few dropped passes by Mohamed Sanu to Matt Ryan being a little on the slow side, the offense had a less than impressive day on Friday. However, the Atlanta Falcons appeared to have had a productive day overall.

Falcons head coach Dan Quinn met with the media Friday to discuss Day 2, and expressed that he was very impressed with some of the veteran leadership on the team. Coach Quinn also gave an injury update on the Falcons’ star wide receiver, Julio Jones, who left practice early on Thursday with an unspecified “tweak.”

Jones Injury Update

Julio Jones was back on the field Friday, participating in individual drills, but was reported to have sat out the rest of practice. According to AtlantaFalcons.com, “He will be a full participant “in the next day or so,” according to Quinn, who made the decision to limit his star WR.”

As far as the unspecified “tweak” goes, further information on the injury is still limited, other than that the tweak was in relation to a muscle. Regardless, it doesn’t seem to matter, since Jones appears to be fine and well on his way to being a full participant again.

Falcons Sign WR Chris King

The Atlanta Falcons also signed former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Chris King on Friday. King was signed as a college (Duquesne University) free agent by the Cardinals after the 2016 NFL Draft. The addition of King leaves one open spot left on the Atlanta Falcons roster.

VIA AtlantaFalcons.com:

"“King was a first-team All-NEC selection as a senior in 2015 when he led the Dukes with 81 receptions for 1,136 yards (14.0 avg.) and eight touchdowns while starting all 12 games. In his final collegiate game, an FCS playoff contest against William & Mary, King set career highs with 12 receptions for 221 yards.”"
