The Atlanta Falcons made two additions to the team on Friday by signing veteran wide receiver Lance Moore and rookie linebacker Dominique Tovell. The Falcons also chose to waive wide receiver Chris King, who they had just recently signed.
The Atlanta Falcons have been making some last-minute roster changes just days before their first preseason game against the Washington Redskins. Friday, the Falcons added wide receiver Lance Moore and linebacker Dominique Tovell, and waived wide receiver Chris King. These moves allow the Falcons to maintain the 90-man roster limit. Here is a quick look at each of these players.
After signing defensive end Dwight Freeney four days ago, the Atlanta Falcons have added more veteran experience to the team with the signing of former New Orleans Saints wide receiver Lance Moore. This will be his 10th year and third team in the NFL.
Moore played college football at the University of Toledo, where he recorded more than 2,000 yards and 25 touchdowns. The Cleveland Browns signed him as a college free agent shortly after the 2005 NFL Draft.

Most notable in Moore’s career was his eight seasons with the Saints, in which he recorded a total of 346 receptions for 4,281 yards and 38 touchdowns. He even won Super Bowl XLIV in 2010 with the Saints.
The Atlanta Falcons already have two starting wide receivers in Mohamed Sanu and Julio Jones. However, behind those two, Moore will have quite the competition in battling Justin Hardy, Aldrick Robinson, Devin Fuller, and Eric Weems for a spot on the roster.
The Falcons offense, per Matt Ryan, has a goal of scoring 30 points per game this season. Could Moore help them reach it?
Defensive lineman Dominique Tovell spent his college years, from 2012-2015, at Louisiana-Lafayette where he recovered a total of 238 tackles in 50 games. After this years’ 2016 NFL Draft, the Saints signed Tovell as a free agent. Now, he is headed to Atlanta.
The addition of Tovell fills the absence of rookie linebacker Torrey Green. Green was cut from the team on Thursday after being named a prime suspect in numerous rape and sexual assault allegations. Most recently, it has been reported that Green has apologized to the team and is maintaining his innocence. The investigation is still ongoing.
Just last Friday, the Atlanta Falcons signed former Arizona Cardinals rookie wide receiver Chris King. Exactly one week later, the Falcons officially waived him. King was a first team All-NEC selection in 2015 after leading the Duquesne Dukes with 81 receptions for 1,136 yards and 8 touchdowns. According to reports, King is headed to the New York Jets.
