The Georgia Bulldogs 14th preseason practice on Tuesday was a wet one. Despite the weather, we’ve got an injury update on safety Quincy Mauger and another transfer to the Bulldogs roster, Georgia State’s Daniel Harper.

The Georgia Bulldogs underwent a slight weather delay at Tuesday’s practice when rain fell hard in Athens. According to reports, practice was interrupted for about 30 minutes due to a lightning strike that hit close to the Club Sports complex. Players and coaches rushed off the field to wait out the storm. As the weather subsided, the Bulldogs continued business as usual.

Mauger sidelined

Georgia Bulldogs senior safety Quincy Mauger has been dealing with a “minor” injury that was sustained in a recent practice. The injury first received attention when head coach Kirby Smart tweeted a picture post service at Watkinsville First Baptist Church in which he thanked the church for welcoming the team. In the photo Mauger is wearing a boot on his left foot.

There has been little detail concerning the specifics of the injury, but it is rumored to be a high ankle sprain. Although he was seen wearing the boot in the image on Sunday, Mauger was able to participate in Monday’s practice. His participation on Monday lead many to believe that the injury was nothing to worry about.

However, Mauger was sidelined at Tuesday’s practice, still wearing the boot. For now, Mauger‘s injury is being regarded as day-to-day according to Coach Smart. As a result of the injury Aaron Davis was present at safety for the Georgia Bulldogs.

VIA Chip Towers of DawgNation:

"Senior safety Quincy Mauger was back in a walking boot and not participating. Mauger was in a walking boot on Sunday, but then was practicing on during the media observation period on Monday. He was on an exercise bike during the media viewing period of Tuesday’s practice."

Harper joins the Bulldogs

Additionally, the Dawgs have added another transfer to the roster, but this one is a Georgia native. Daniel Harper is a transfer from Georgia State who graduated in 2014 from Lakeside High School. At 6-foot-1, 215-pounds, the redshirt sophomore posted a 5.07 40-yard dash and a 28.4 vertical jump. He was seen working with the outside linebackers on Tuesday.

On a side note, Maurice Smith has been widely accepted since his arrival at UGA. The team has acknowledged all that he went through to be with the Georgia Bulldogs, and players have welcomed him with open arms. Smith was working without full pads at Tuesday’s practice.
