Will the Georgia State Panthers take advantage of their bye week this week and turn their luck around in time for App State on Oct. 1?

For Georgia State Panthers fans the first two weeks of the season were a bit disappointing considering they finished up last season with a bowl appearance. The Panthers struggled mightily through the first two weeks. Those struggles were expected to continue against a very good Wisconsin team.

I have been very harsh in my reviews and recaps of the Panthers so far this season, but I have to say they really showed up to play Saturday afternoon. The Panthers still struggled to find a run game in Madison with only 33 total rushing yards (due to sacks). However, Connor Manning put up a good show through the air with 269 yards and a touchdown.

Running back Kyler Neal rushed his way to 41 yards on 15 carries. He also had a big touchdown run to give the Panthers a brief lead of 17-13 The Badgers struck back quickly to make it a 20-17 game and then later added a field goal to make it a final of 23 -17.

More from ATL All Day

Even though the Panthers were unable to secure the upset bid, they can still head back to Atlanta knowing that they gave the Badgers everything they had. The Panthers played with a fire and really seemed to get into a rhythm offensively.

Manning has seemingly grabbed a hold of the starting quarterback job and has run with it. He should, without a doubt, be the starter going forward. The defense played really well, really limiting Wisconsin in the 1st half and much of the second half. They played very well after getting outscored in their first two games 79 to 35.

It will be interesting to see how the Panthers can play going into conference play. Hopefully this will be the start for a turnaround and  the Panthers can get back on track.
