Chris Sale-Sonny Gray-Chris Archer

Chris Sale is the least likely of these three names to be moved, but he is also the most intriguing. He is one of the best ace around and if he is on the market every team in the league will be in on Sale. He would slot in the rotation obviously ahead of Julio Teheran and offer the Braves something they have been missing arguably since Smoltz and Glavine were pitching.

Sonny Gray is a name that has been on the rumor mill for too long. It is getting to the point that not trading Gray has been more surprising for the Athletics than keeping the young ace. This past season he struggled to stay on the field or pitch like he had in the past. But if he is on the market again, the Braves will be one of many teams competing for his services.

Chris Archer is a Ray for now and it may stay that way for a long while. The Rays have to be impatient with their recent results however, and could begin to contemplate trading players like Archer to help brighten their future long term.

Whether it is one of these names or a surprise ace that is on the trade market the Braves need to get Julio Teheran some help. They have the farm system and talent to pair with it to acquire a much needed ace headed into 2017.
