The Atlanta Hawks released guard Josh Magette on Saturday, bringing the roster to the maximum 15 players.

The Atlanta Hawks roster is officially at the 15 player maximum after the team released five players this week: Matt Costello, Ryan Kelly, Jarrett Jack, Will Bynum, and most recently, Josh Magette. Forward Matt Costello, who saw limited action in preseason, was the first to be waived on Monday, trimming the training camp roster to 19 players.

Next, the Hawks released forward Ryan Kelly, who appeared in all six exhibition games. Kelly signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Atlanta Hawks this summer. This move brought the training camp roster to 18. Then the Hawks waived veteran point guard Jarrett Jack, who missed all seven of the team’s exhibition game this preseason. He suffered a knee injury last season with the Nets and was still recovering during training camp.

After releasing Jack, the Atlanta Hawks only had Will Bynum and Josh Magette as point guards on the training camp roster behind starter Dennis Schroder and backup Malcolm Delaney. However, the chances of both Bynum and Magette making the final roster were slim.

Next, Will Bynum was released on Friday, which put the roster at 16 players. He played in all seven exhibition games this preseason, totaling 33 points, 22 assists and nine rebounds. After the Hawks released Bynum, Magette was the only player left on the roster with a non-guaranteed contract. Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution then reported on Saturday that the Atlanta Hawks had finalized their roster with the release of Magette.
