The Atlanta Falcons lost a tough match-up headed into their bye week. Are the Falcons collapsing yet again this season?

The Atlanta Falcons season has been a tough one to figure out for many Falcon’s fans as well as pundits who believe this to be the same team that has notoriously collapsed in seasons past.  This past week’s loss to the Eagles did little to help matters for the Falcons as they head into the bye week and hope to regain health and a bit of momentum.

The Falcons have six games remaining on the season that will see them taking on the Cardinals, Rams, Chiefs, 49ers, Panthers, and a rebounding New Orleans Saints team to finish out the season. Outside of the Chiefs all of the Falcon’s games are winnable and will be an easier schedule then they have faced so far this season considering the level of talent that they have faced.

The Eagles loss was a concerning one but could be shrugged off simply as an off week for an offense that every other week has played out of the their minds. Driving the ball down the field at will and putting up huge numbers regardless of the defense that they had faced.

This Falcons team is different simply in the fact that last years team would never have been in the game against a Seahawks team that just finished beating the New England Patriots. Neither would they have beaten the Saints in their dome, the Broncos at Denver, the Packers, or the playoff bound Oakland Raiders.

Matt Ryan and the offense are going to have to continue to pick up an unimpressive defense for the remainder of the season but this team will not collapse the way that they would have in seasons past. For the reasons outlined above they have faced one of the toughest if not the toughest slate in the NFL and sit at 6-4 comfortably in control of their division and playoff hopes.

While there is no such thing as an easy opponent in the NFL (Unless your the Browns, sorry, Cleveland) the Falcons will be facing a slate that they could easily win their remaining games. Even at worst the Falcons should go 4-2 in their remaining six games giving themselves a 10-6 record and a chance against any team in the playoffs with their offense.

Falcon’s fans who have seen this happen before know that the team has a history of collapsing when it matters most down the stretch. Head Coach Dan Quinn is changing the culture of Falcon’s football and will continue to do so this season by refusing to let his team collapse the way that they did last season.

Don’t worry Falcon’s fans the bye week will over soon enough and the Falcons will be healthy and ready to erase the memory of a tough loss to a tough Philly team.  The Falcons next game will be Nov. 27th at home against the Arizona Cardinals kick-off will be at 1:00 on FOX.
