Atlanta Falcons: Falcons Win Blowout Against the Rams
By Kit Anderson
The Atlanta Falcons kept pace with the Bucs on Sunday and showed important signs of life defensively as the playoffs come closer.
The Atlanta Falcons held onto their division lead over the Tampa Bay Bucs on Sunday with a 42-14 win against the Rams. While the Falcons and Bucs are tied for the top of the division the Falcons hold the tie breaker and if the season ended today would win the division.
The biggest story line for the Falcons all day was their ability to shut down the Rams offense. Despite the fact that the Rams offense has struggled all season the Falcon’s defense has struggled as well the performance that they put together was by far their best of the season.
Vic Beasley’s performance was especially of note, Beasley played out of his mind Sunday sacking the quarterback three times including a strip sack that resulted in a scoop and score for Vic. The defensive line continued to get pressure on the quarterback and made life hard for Jared Goff.
The offense had a big day as well proving that they could win without their top two wide receivers and top tight end (Jacob Tamme). Matt Ryan picked apart the Rams secondary with the likes of Nick Williams and Taylor Gabriel. The Falcons offense capitalized early on a turnover on the opening kick-off and never looked back.
The win puts the Falcons at 8-5 on the season and keeps them on pace to win the division and to make the playoffs for the first time since a memorable game against the San Francisco 49er’s. Those same 49er’s are next up on the Falcons. The Falcons should win their second game in a row against a team that hasn’t won but a single game this season.

The win against the Rams was a big one for the Falcon’s playoff hopes and with the ease of the rest of the Falcon’s schedule could put them on a role headed into the playoffs. The Falcons will kick off against the 49er’s Sunday on FOX.
