  1. Jaime Garcia

The Braves have made a habit of sending prospects and rental players to other teams for prospects. For once that narrative was flipped this off-season the Braves sent prospects to the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for lefty Jaime Garcia.

Garcia has had a very up-and-down career that has seen him deal with injury riddled seasons where he could not stay on the field and others where he looked to be a top three starter at his best. Adding Garcia after he struggled last season is a low risk high reward move for the Braves.

With one year remaining on his deal Garcia is a trade chip if needed or could be a great piece if the Braves were to become surprise contenders. Worst case scenario the Braves can move on from Garcia if he is not able to bounce back from the struggles he had in 2016.

Garcia is a lefty who at his best keeps his team in games getting a lot of ground balls and getting occasional strikeouts.  Garcia should slot in toward the end of the Braves rotation as long as he can remain healthy or until he is moved for prospects.  Projected Stats: 6-11, 4.09 ERA, 145 K’s, and 175.0 Innings pitched.
