Are the Atlanta Falcons set for a grudge match against the Seattle Seahawks?

The Atlanta Falcons are sitting at home this week enjoying a bye and preparing for their first playoff game in quite some time. This week’s games will decide the Falcon’s opponent next Saturday and it looks as if the Falcons could be set for a grudge match with the Seattle Seahawks.

Seattle faced Atlanta in the regular season and knocked off the Falcons in Seattle in one of the most controversial games of the NFL season. Matt Ryan was in the process of taking his team on a drive that would have won the game the drive stalled out and it came down to one play to keep it going or lose the game.

Ryan threw a jump ball for Julio that went off of his hand and he wasn’t able to haul in. The reason? Richard Sherman one of the most talented and dirtiest players in the league, had Julio Jones wrapped up with his arm pinned behind his back. Leaving Jones with little chance to make a catch that would have put the Falcons in position to win the game. No flag was thrown and the Seahawks won the game.

This weekend the Seahawks play the slumping Lions in Seattle and the game seems all but decided. The Lions have struggled ending the season losing three straight and went into the playoffs on a collapse. Going into one of the toughest places to play in all of the NFL it is doubtful that the Lions will be able to come out of Seattle with a win.

If that is the result the Seahawks will be headed to Atlanta for next Saturday’s playoff game at the dome and give the Falcons a chance at revenge. Another chance at Richard Sherman and the Seahawks in the playoffs shapes up as the ultimate revenge game for the Falcons and will give them a chance to knock the Seahawks out of the playoffs altogether. Not to say that the Falcons will be able to do so with ease the Hawks are scary come playoff time and if they are indeed headed to Atlanta as expected Atlanta will have their work cut out for them.
