The Atlanta Falcons will keep the doors of the Georgia Dome open for another game longer with the Packers beating the Cowboys late Sunday afternoon.

The Atlanta Falcons will be able to host another playoff game, thanks to the Green Bay Packers knocking off the Cowboys on Sunday evening in Dallas. Atlanta will have to contend with one of the best offenses in the league in a showdown between the two likeliest MVP candidates.

While the Packer’s offense is scary the Falcons will not have to face an elite defense against the Packers and will have the benefit of their home crowd behind them yet again in Atlanta. The game will be played Sunday on FOX.

The biggest story line of the weekend for the Falcons was the impressive performance that the defense put together piling up sacks and playing great in their secondary. The defense that had been maligned all season long stepped up their play against the Seahawks and allowed the Falcon’s offense to jump out to a lead and hold it when the offense sputtered more than once.

Facing the Seahawks in the playoffs is never easy but the Falcons have an even bigger challenge headed their way in Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers has been on a tear for the last two months of the season putting together a year that could only be rivaled by Matt Ryan’s impressive campaign. This Sunday the Falcon’s defense is going to have their biggest challenge trying to figure out just how to slow down Rodgers?

While you may point out that the Falcons defeated the Packers earlier in the year it is fair in turn to point out that Rodgers has elevated his play since then. Piling up touchdowns and not turning the ball over and burning the secondary continuously. If the Falcons want to make it to Houston first they will have to go through Aaron Rodgers first.

The Georgia Dome will stay open one more game and it will be the most meaningful game that the Dome has seen in a very long time. Sunday’s game will kick off at 3:05 EST on FOX.
