The Atlanta Falcons season ended on Sunday but there is still plenty to look forward to in the years to come.

The Atlanta Falcon’s season came to an end on Sunday night with a loss to the New England Patriots. After jumping out to a huge 25 point lead Atlanta collapsed in the second half giving up key sacks and failing to put any points on the board.

The game went to overtime and in sudden death rules the Patriots won without the Falcons ever touching the football. It is a depressing end to an amazing season that will now be remembered by a lot of “what if” questions that surround a Super Bowl loss.

The Falcons defense failing to adapt or missing a key opportunity for a field goal in the 4th quarter were both deciding factors in a game that was dominated by Atlanta for three quarters. Tom Brady and the Patriots have cemented themselves as one of the greatest dynasties in NFL history with their 5th Super Bowl victory.

Matt Ryan and the Falcons will head into the off-season looking to continue to get better on defense. The biggest problem for the Falcons was the time of possession and how long their defense was on the field because of the big plays from the Falcons early in the game.

It was a heartbreaking game for Falcon’s fans that have seen a lot of seasons end poorly but this one hurts the most of all because of just how close the Falcons were to bringing home a championship to Atlanta.

While it is hard to see any bright side the good news for the Falcons is that they have built a team that can compete for conference championships and be in the playoffs for years to come. While this season may not have ended as they wanted it to there is still plenty to look forward to for Falcons fans in the years to come.
