T.J. Lang exits with season ending injury /

3. Tom Compton and Chris Chester will be free agents

Bringing back Chris Chester may be the smartest move and the most affordable but the Falcons should at least explore adding a top offensive guard that won’t break the bank. Chris Chester is a talented player but is on the back end of his career.

T.J. Lang’s gruesome season ending injury could effect how much he is paid on the open market and could give the Falcons a chance at one of the top offensive free agents of the off-season.

Other top names on the market at offensive guard include the Cowboys’ Ron Leary and the Bengals’ Kevin Zeitler neither would be legitimate options unless the Falcons are willing to cut cap space and focus on many other positions in the NFL draft.

The smartest move for the Falcons would be to bring back Chester if he will accept a one year deal and keep the offensive line the same line that had so much success in the 2016 season. The one thing that could change the Falcons mind is if they were to cut cap space by moving a player like Desmond Truffant they could decide to explore adding one of the better guards on the market and solidify their offensive line as one of the best in the NFL.
